This artwork by Gaspar van Wittel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2020. In the Master Paintings Evening Sale auction, the work View Of Tivoli With The Old Waterfall And Left Bank Of The River Aniene sold for USD 218,750.00 (€ 197,196.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gaspar van Wittel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).

In der Auktion Master Paintings Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit View Of Tivoli With The Old Waterfall And Left Bank Of The River Aniene für USD 218.750,00 (€ 197.196,43) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05).
