Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Venice, Santa Maria della Salute and the entrance to the Grand Canal |《威尼斯安康聖母聖殿與大運河入口》 by Gaspar van Wittel. It changed hands for a price of GBP 378,000.00 (€ 422,259.69) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300,000.00 – 400,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gaspar van Wittel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venice, Santa Maria della Salute and the entrance to the Grand Canal |《威尼斯安康聖母聖殿與大運河入口》 von Gaspar van Wittel zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 378.000,00 (€ 422.259,69) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300.000,00 – 400.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05).
