Admittedly, works by Gaspar van Wittel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute in July 2003 with an auction result of GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 392.750,00 (€ 438.248,69) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 31%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute im Juli 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05).
