Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Evening Sale, which included the work Two Landscapes With The Villa Aldobrandini At Frascati And The Villa Farnese At Caprarola by Gaspar van Wittel. The price achieved of GBP 777,000.00 (€ 874,399.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gaspar van Wittel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute, which sold at auction in July 2003 for GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).

Im Dezember 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Landscapes With The Villa Aldobrandini At Frascati And The Villa Farnese At Caprarola von Gaspar van Wittel zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 777.000,00 (€ 874.399,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 700.000,00 – 1.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute beobachtet, die im Juli 2003 für GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05) versteigert wurde.
