Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Rome, A View Of The Port Of Ripa Grande by Gaspar van Wittel for USD 795,000.00 (€ 651,052.33). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings Evening Sale at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gaspar van Wittel - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute, which sold at auction in July 2003 for GBP 1,517,250.00 (€ 1,983,148.05).

Im Februar 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Rome, A View Of The Port Of Ripa Grande von Gaspar van Wittel für USD 795.000,00 (€ 651.052,33) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Master Paintings Evening Sale bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800.000,00 – 1.200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Gaspar van Wittel mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from the Bacino; and The Entrance to the Grand Canal, with the Santa Maria della Salute beobachtet, die im Juli 2003 für GBP 1.517.250,00 (€ 1.983.148,05) versteigert wurde.
