A top price for Gao Qipei
This artwork by Gao Qipei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2019. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy Including Property from the Chokaido Museum Collection auction, the work Fish sold for HKD 5,165,000.00 (€ 591,132.84) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 2,000,000.00. This high result makes Fish the most expensive artwork by Gao Qipei that we have observed at auctions so far.
