This artwork by Gao Kai achieved an unexpectedly high price at China Guardian in Hong Kong in May 2016. In the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy from the Four Seas auction, the work Seven-Character Couplet In Running Script sold for HKD 37,760.00 (€ 4,364.36) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 15,000.00. This high result makes Seven-Character Couplet In Running Script the most expensive artwork by Gao Kai that we have observed at auctions so far.
