Each scroll measures 124 x 27.5 cm. (48 <sup>7</sup>⁄<sub>8</sub> x 10 <sup>7</sup>⁄<sub>8</sub> in.)
Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist
Dedicated to Yunshan
NOTE: Gao Kai followed the technique of the Zhe School, and his calligraphy captures the essence of Ouyang Xun and Chu Suiliang. His paintings are also exquisite, and especially good at painting flower and birds and insects.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script by Gao Kai was sold in the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center auction at Christies in December 2021. The price achieved of HKD 18,750.00 (€ 2,123.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 12,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gao Kai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seven-Character Couplet In Running Script, which sold at auction in May 2016 for HKD 37,760.00 (€ 4,364.36).
