Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Traversing the Stream with a Crane by Gao Jian was sold in the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 225,000.00 (€ 22,309.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gao Jian - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Landscape, which sold at auction in October 2013 for HKD 552,000.00 (€ 52,381.93).
