The work Landscape After Tang Yin by Gao Jian was worth HKD 288,000.00 (€ 31,511.45) to a buyer in November 2005. This price was achieved in the auction FINE CLASSICAL CHINESE PAINTINGS AND CALLIGRAPHY at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gao Jian; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Landscape sold at auction in October 2013 with the realized price of HKD 552,000.00 (€ 52,381.93).
