Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2016 Christies in Mumbai held the auction The India Sale - South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work The Morning Star by Gaganendranath Tagore. Here, the upper estimate of INR 2,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for INR 2,125,000.00 (€ 29,603.39). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gaganendranath Tagore - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bed Of Arrows (Bhishma), which sold at auction in October 2015 for GBP 81,250.00 (€ 113,648.46).
