Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Norwegian the Lysaker River In Winter by Frits Thaulow. The result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 33,422.66) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frits Thaulow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Snødekt by med elv og foss (Snow-covered town with waterfall), which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 96,500.00 (€ 122,752.22).
