Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishing on the estuary, with cattle watering nearby by Frederick Waters Watts was sold in the Victorian & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,566.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Waters Watts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dedham Lock on the River Stour in May this year with an auction result of GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,912.59).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.566,61) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Waters Watts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dedham Lock on the River Stour im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.912,59).
