Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Frederick Waters Watts could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures auction, the work The Watermill changed hands for USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,406.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederick Waters Watts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dedham Lock on the River Stour in May this year with an auction result of GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,912.59).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Frederick Waters Watts konnte im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion European Paintings, Drawings & Sculptures wechselte die Arbeit The Watermill für USD 1.638,00 (€ 1.406,37) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frederick Waters Watts erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dedham Lock on the River Stour im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.912,59).
