Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work A cart on a track, near Dedham Lock by Frederick Waters Watts. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,164.74) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Frederick Waters Watts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dedham Lock on the River Stour in May this year with an auction result of GBP 40,320.00 (€ 46,912.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A cart on a track, near Dedham Lock von Frederick Waters Watts zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 7.164,74) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Waters Watts auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dedham Lock on the River Stour im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.320,00 (€ 46.912,59).
