In March 2005 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale, which included the work The Rustic Meal by John Frederick Tayler. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 780.00 (€ 1,135.99), 30% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Tayler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La lettera, 1884 in December 2001 with an auction result of ITL 31,850,000.00 (€ 28,626.00).

Im März 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Scottish Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Rustic Meal von John Frederick Tayler zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.135,99) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Tayler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La lettera, 1884 im Dezember 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von ITL 31.850.000,00 (€ 28.626,00).
