The auction ended at the price of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,789.76), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frederick Calvert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover, which sold at auction in October 2008 for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,712.92).
