Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work A steam packet entering Scarborough; Troops embarking off Whitby, a pair each 40.4 x 53cm (15 7/8 x 20 7/8in). (2) by Frederick Calvert. The price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,713.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Calvert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,712.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A steam packet entering Scarborough; Troops embarking off Whitby, a pair each 40.4 x 53cm (15 7/8 x 20 7/8in). (2) von Frederick Calvert zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.713,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Calvert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.712,92).
