The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,048.00 (€ 2,351.67), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Frederick Calvert have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover in October 2008 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 20,712.92).

Die Arbeit Shipping off a busy waterfront, a pair von Frederick Calvert wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.048,00 (€ 2.351,67) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frederick Calvert auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ports of the English Channel comprising Folkestone, Ramsgate, Cowes and Dover im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 20.712,92).
