Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, which included the work Study for Elijah in the Wilderness by Frederic Leighton. It changed hands for a price of GBP 32,760.00 (€ 39,075.81) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 26,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frederic Leighton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Golden Hours in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 3,274,500.00 (€ 3,930,468.55).
