Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Forest Saplings by Fred Williams was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2008. The price achieved of AUD 108,000.00 (€ 55,693.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 90,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Williams achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Hillside I, 1965 in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 1,920,000.00 (€ 1,148,115.24).

Die Arbeit Australian Forest Saplings von Fred Williams kam im November 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 108.000,00 (€ 55.693,08) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 90.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fred Williams erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Hillside I, 1965 im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 1.920.000,00 (€ 1.148.115,24).
