FRED UHLMAN (1901-1985) Nocturnal Raid signed and dated 'UHLMAN 44' (lower right) oil on board 15 x 21 1 ⁄ 2 in. (38.1 x 54.6 cm.) Painted in 1944.
Upper estimate price exceeded by 51 %.
In July last year Christies in London held the auction The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art, which included the work Nocturnal Raid by Fred Uhlman. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,560.00 (€ 9,027.98), 51% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fred Uhlman; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portmerion Bay sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 7,800.00 (€ 11,583.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nocturnal Raid von Fred Uhlman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.560,00 (€ 9.027,98) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Fred Uhlman; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Portmerion Bay im November 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 7.800,00 (€ 11.583,24).
