Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Franz Xaver Pieler could be acquired at Sothebys in London in June 2009 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and The Scandinavian Sale auction, the work Austrian Blumenstillleben (Still Life With Flowers) changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,400.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz Xaver Pieler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, irises, daffodils, carnations and other flowers in a vase on a ledge, which sold at auction in July 2000 for NLG 23,404.00 (€ 10,287.56).
