Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life With Grapes In A Porcelain Bowl, Fruit In A Gilt Tazza And Other Objects by Franz Godin was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 80,500.00 (€ 103,630.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Franz Godin have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2005 the work Peaches and plums in a tazza and a finch eating blackberries from a porcelain bowl with gilt handles and a façon-de-Venise vase with carnations and wallflowers, on a ledge with cherries, seedheads, pine needles and a butterfly was auctioned for GBP 72,000.00 (€ 104,435.32).
