Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dolci in una coppa in rame, un römer, pane, un granchio e gamberi, limone ed olive in un piatto d'argento ed un topo su un piano di pietra by Franz Godin was auctioned at Christies in Rome in June 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 22,320.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Franz Godin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Peaches and plums in a tazza and a finch eating blackberries from a porcelain bowl with gilt handles and a façon-de-Venise vase with carnations and wallflowers, on a ledge with cherries, seedheads, pine needles and a butterfly in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 72,000.00 (€ 104,435.32).
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Franz Godin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Peaches and plums in a tazza and a finch eating blackberries from a porcelain bowl with gilt handles and a façon-de-Venise vase with carnations and wallflowers, on a ledge with cherries, seedheads, pine needles and a butterfly im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 72.000,00 (€ 104.435,32).
