Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fiori, frutta e volatili by Franz Godin was auctioned at Il Ponte in April 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 32,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 27,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Franz Godin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Peaches and plums in a tazza and a finch eating blackberries from a porcelain bowl with gilt handles and a façon-de-Venise vase with carnations and wallflowers, on a ledge with cherries, seedheads, pine needles and a butterfly, which sold at auction in July 2005 for GBP 72,000.00 (€ 104,435.32).
Für andere Arbeiten von Franz Godin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Peaches and plums in a tazza and a finch eating blackberries from a porcelain bowl with gilt handles and a façon-de-Venise vase with carnations and wallflowers, on a ledge with cherries, seedheads, pine needles and a butterfly beobachtet, die im Juli 2005 für GBP 72.000,00 (€ 104.435,32) versteigert wurde.
