This work of art by Frank Tenney Johnson could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in July 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art Online auction, the work The Old Gray Mare changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,144.65) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Tenney Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wyoming Cattlemen in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 550,000.00 (€ 472,224.61).
