Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Herd at Night by Frank Tenney Johnson was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 34,109.51). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Tenney Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wyoming Cattlemen in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 550,000.00 (€ 472,224.61).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Herd at Night von Frank Tenney Johnson im Mai 2015 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 37.500,00 (€ 34.109,51) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Frank Tenney Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wyoming Cattlemen im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 550.000,00 (€ 472.224,61).
