Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Gulls on the beach by Frank Southgate was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,200.00 (€ 995.19). Admittedly, works by Frank Southgate have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Partridge Alighting On A Corn Field in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,736.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Gulls on the beach von Frank Southgate im September 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.200,00 (€ 995,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Southgate auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Partridge Alighting On A Corn Field im Dezember 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.736,81).
