Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Athenian Messenger Pheidippides Delivers News of the Victory at Marathon by Frank Moss Bennett was auctioned at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts in November last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,187.50 (€ 3,087.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Moss Bennett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The King'S Arms in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 75,250.00 (€ 125,005.22).
