Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2002 Christies in London held the auction PHOTOGRAPHS, MAGIC LANTERNS AND OPTICAL TOYS AND CAMERAS, which included the work Whitby views by Frank Meadow Sutcliffe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,287.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Frank Meadow Sutcliffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scenes of Whitby, 1880S in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion PHOTOGRAPHS, MAGIC LANTERNS AND OPTICAL TOYS AND CAMERAS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Whitby views von Frank Meadow Sutcliffe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 822,50 (€ 1.287,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Meadow Sutcliffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scenes of Whitby, 1880S im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.474,26).
