Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Gate to a Great City by Frank Coburn was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,475.00 (€ 10,166.56). Admittedly, works by Frank Coburn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Busy Downtown Evening (Los Angeles) in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 50,075.00 (€ 44,705.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Gate to a Great City von Frank Coburn im November 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.475,00 (€ 10.166,56) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frank Coburn auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Busy Downtown Evening (Los Angeles) im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.075,00 (€ 44.705,83).
