The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,434.56), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Francisco Vidal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Icarus Chocolate in May 2017 with an auction result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,228.11).

Die Arbeit Shipping off Gibraltar with the fleet in harbour: Morning and Evening von Francisco Vidal wurde im Juni 2003 in der Auktion Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.390,00 (€ 3.434,56) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francisco Vidal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Icarus Chocolate im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 17.228,11).
