Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Lord Weymouth's Conqueror beating the Duke of Bolton's Looby at Newmarket by Francis Sartorius. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,683.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Sartorius achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Full Cry in April 2015 with an auction result of USD 81,250.00 (€ 72,791.61).
