Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of The Thames, From Somerset House With St Paul'S Cathedral In The Distance, London by Francis Nicholson was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,633.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Nicholson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Views of Weymouth, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
