Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Coniston Lake, Cumbria by Francis Nicholson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,174.99). Admittedly, works by Francis Nicholson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two Views of Weymouth in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Coniston Lake, Cumbria von Francis Nicholson im Dezember 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.174,99) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Nicholson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Two Views of Weymouth im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.474,26).
