In the Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian auction, the work Figures Outside A Cave Near Abergeley, North Wales sold for GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,783.27) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Francis Nicholson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two Views of Weymouth in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
