Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Figures conversing on a hill overlooking ships anchored in Scarborough Bay, the castle beyond by Francis Nicholson was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,694.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Francis Nicholson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two Views of Weymouth in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Figures conversing on a hill overlooking ships anchored in Scarborough Bay, the castle beyond von Francis Nicholson kam im Dezember 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.694,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Nicholson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Two Views of Weymouth im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.474,26).
