Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Cascade near Gayles in Wensleydale; Stonetiyar Lyn, a fall off the Clyde, near Lanark; and Nantfrankon, Caernarvonshire by Francis Nicholson. The price achieved of GBP 358.50 (€ 536.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Nicholson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Views of Weymouth in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,474.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cascade near Gayles in Wensleydale; Stonetiyar Lyn, a fall off the Clyde, near Lanark; and Nantfrankon, Caernarvonshire von Francis Nicholson zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 358,50 (€ 536,64) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Nicholson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two Views of Weymouth im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.400,00 (€ 12.474,26).
