Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a lady, said to be The Duchess of Marlborough, three-quarter length, seated and reading a book by Francis Cotes. The price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 18,030.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 532,905.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a lady, said to be The Duchess of Marlborough, three-quarter length, seated and reading a book von Francis Cotes zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape im Juli 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 422.500,00 (€ 532.905,34).
