Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francis Cotes could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2017 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction, the work Portrait Of Alice, Countess Of Shipbrook changed hands for USD 23,750.00 (€ 22,002.96) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Cotes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Master Smith, full-length, in a mauve coat and breeches, his right hand resting on a kite, in a landscape in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 422,500.00 (€ 532,905.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Francis Cotes konnte im Januar 2017 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Portrait Of Alice, Countess Of Shipbrook für USD 23.750,00 (€ 22.002,96) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Cotes erzielen.
