Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work Water Deities by Francesco Morandini for GBP 58,850.00 (€ 74,959.08). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Morandini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Francesco I de' Medici (1541-1587), Grand Duke of Tuscany, three-quarter-length, in a fur-trimmed coat and a white ruff, his hand resting on the pages of Mattioli's 'Commentarii in sex Libros Pedacii Dioscoridis', on a draped table with a, which sold at auction in December 2012 for GBP 157,250.00 (€ 193,
Für andere Arbeiten von Francesco Morandini mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Francesco I de' Medici (1541-1587), Grand Duke of Tuscany, three-quarter-length, in a fur-trimmed coat and a white ruff, his hand resting on the pages of Mattioli's 'Commentarii in sex Libros Pedacii Dioscoridis', on a draped table with a beobachtet, die im Dezember 2012 für GBP 157.250,00 (€ 193.932,92) versteigert wurde.
