Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work Robert of Anjou Witnessing the Construction of the Church of Santa Chiara, Naples by Francesco de Mura. The price achieved of USD 69,300.00 (€ 64,579.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco de Mura - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Martirio Di Santa Barbara Strage Degli Innocenti, which sold at auction in June 2011 for EUR 132,750.00.
