This price was achieved in the auction Important Old Master Pictures at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Francesco da Ponte; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait of a bearded gentleman, half-length, in a black doublet with a white collar sold at auction in June last year with the realized price of USD 88,200.00 (€ 84,248.73).
