In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Rafe'S Chasm, Gloucester, Massachusetts sold for USD 1,136,000.00 (€ 885,217.80) - well above the upper estimate of USD 600,000.00. Admittedly, works by Fitz Henry Lane have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Golden Rule in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 3,966,000.00 (€ 4,251,715.27).
