Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as Julie Masbou, neé Garrigues, full-length, in a golden dress with a turban, in an elegant interior, a landscape beyond by Firmin Massot was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Christies in London in April 2015. The auction ended at the price of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,239.38), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Firmin Massot - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Elizabeth Broadhead, later Lady Dashwood (1801-1889), small full-length, in a white dress, seated in a landscape, holding a sun hat, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 26,257.27).
