A top price for Firmin Massot - as previously expected
The work Portrait of Elizabeth Broadhead, later Lady Dashwood (1801-1889), small full-length, in a white dress, seated in a landscape, holding a sun hat by Firmin Massot was sold in the Old Master & British Pictures (Day Sale) auction at Christies in London in December 2008. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 26,257.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Elizabeth Broadhead, later Lady Dashwood (1801-1889), small full-length, in a white dress, seated in a landscape, holding a sun hat is the most expensive artwork by Firmin Massot that we have observed at auctions so far.
