Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Lady, Said To Be Madame Masbou (1768-1853), Seated In An Interior, Wearing A Brown Velvet Dress And A Headdress, A Landscape Seen Through A Window Beyond by Firmin Massot was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,543.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Firmin Massot have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2008 the work Portrait of Elizabeth Broadhead, later Lady Dashwood (1801-1889), small full-length, in a white dress, seated in a landscape, holding a sun hat was auctioned for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 26,257.27).
