The work Japan by Felice Beato was sold in the The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation auction at Phillips in New York in October 2017. The auction ended at the price of USD 30,000.00 (€ 25,755.49), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Felice Beato have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Lucknow', 1858. An Album Of 75 Photographs Documenting The Aftermath Of The Mutiny Of 1857 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 96,500.00 (€ 122,752.22).

Die Arbeit Japan von Felice Beato wurde im Oktober 2017 in der Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 25.755,49) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Felice Beato auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Lucknow', 1858.
