Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Studio By Plum Blossom Grove by Fan Haolin was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in April 2016, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 90,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 600,000.00 (€ 67,598.99). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Fan Haolin; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Zhongkui sold at auction in April 2017 with the realized price of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 103,281.32).
